Commodity Components International, Inc. is committed to assisting customers and vendors with ongoing RoHS compliance. As an industry leader, we feel a commitment to supporting the environmentally friendly standards through strict new internal guidelines, as well as up to date information for our customers. In partnership with TUV America and 5-Trees, CCI has taken the necessary steps to become fully RoHS compliant.
Global RoHS Mission Statement
Commodity Components International, Inc. is committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including the European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive that restricts the use of hazardous materials in electronics products. As an industry leader, we feel a commitment to supporting the environmentally friendly standards through strict new internal guidelines, as well as up to date information for our customers. RoHS will require companies to update packaging, warehousing, inspection, and testing procedures- while continuing to market both leaded and lead-free products.
Recognizing our role as an industry leader – CCI established a compliance team in early 2005 made up of Quality, Sales, Warehouse, and Management staff. The role this team has been to educate, assess, and ultimately implement conformance directives within our organization. This team is working to ensure that CCI’s RoHS compliance and overall quality remain at the high levels our customers have come to expect.
The following are a few of the internal processes already in place at CCI
- Employee Training – Our compliance team has dedicated a great deal of time gathering internal and external information regarding RoHS. That information has been molded into an RoHS employee training program for all CCI employees. Each employee’s role is diverse, so this program has been designed to focus specifically on the job descriptions and departments. Our ability to work efficiently and within the new RoHS compliant environment will be based on our ongoing training/development programs.
- Mission Statement and Policy Updates – To compliment our ISO 9001:2000 mission and vision statements, CCI has developed a corporate policy and set of standards for RoHS compliance. This includes an overall mission statement, warehouse policies, and updates to much of our internal paperwork.
- Segregation of Product – CCI has just completed a renovation of our warehouse facilities to fully comply with our ROHS certification. We will continue to supply our customers with ROHS compliant and non-ROHS compliant products. As such, our warehouse facility is now fully segregated based on ROHS status. Our warehouse staff inspect, test (If needed), and segregate product immediately upon arrival at our facilities. These employees are fully trained on packaging, labeling, and have resources available to identify all product.
- Internal Labeling – RoHS standards do not mandate any universal labeling/packaging, so it will be incumbent upon manufactures and distributors to ensure that product is clearly marked and segregated. Our internal system ensures that product is correctly labeled and shipped according to standards.
- Identification of Resources – CCI has partnered with TUV America and 5-Trees, Inc. to ensure that our organization will be the single source for RoHS information and assistance to our customers. We have a long history of total dedication, and this is just another step in that process.
It is important that our employees, customers and suppliers know that CCI is committed to this process. RoHS directives, implementation, and enforcement will clearly have an impact on global electronics distribution. As this happens, we will continue to be a leader and the most valuable resource to our customers.
